Summary
This 8-day birding adventure explores the northernmost regions of Sulawesi, beginning and ending in Manado. After arrival, you travel east to the renowned Tangkoko National Park, where three nights allow ample time to experience one of Indonesia’s richest concentrations of endemic wildlife. Early morning and late-afternoon walks offer superb opportunities to observe Sulawesi specialties such as the Knobbed Hornbill, Ochre-bellied Boobook, Green-backed Kingfisher, and the striking Sulawesi Dwarf Kingfisher. Tangkoko’s forests also provide memorable encounters with charismatic mammals, including the endangered Spectral Tarsier and Celebes Crested Macaque.

The final leg takes you into the cooler highlands around Tomohon for two nights. Here, montane forests and gardened landscapes host a different suite of endemics, such as the Scaly-breasted Kingfisher, Sulawesi Myzomela, and Sulawesi Pitta. Short walks and scenic viewpoints complement the birding, creating a relaxing finale before returning to Manado for departure.
